see you in 2

Almost 5 months ago I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends and recent boyfriend. As he headed off to Sao Paulo Brazil on a two-year mission, I knew my life would change but I didn’t fully comprehend how much he shaped my life until he was gone. Saying he was a good example to me is a complete understatement, he brought so much light to my life and still does today.

So my missionary and I met freshman year of high school and continued to be friends all throughout our four years. Our friendship was strong and become even stronger during our senior year when we officially started dating. I could go on about all the fun trips we went on and all the great times we had together but we were no different from other happy high school couples. But I knew something great was forming between us when he went up to BYU for summer and I stayed back in Vegas and we had to do “long distance.” This was challenging for our relationship because we were together 24/7 back home and now we had to figure out ways to connect without being in the same state. We resorted to the typically Facetime, phone calls, and constant texting.

Although we missed each other, we both knew that this was a good start for the separation we would feel when he left for his mission.  And it was! I miss him and his daily support so much but I know that because he is doing such an amazing thing that we/ and our relationship will be blessed. I know that the lives he is changing will impact him and shape him into a wonderful man and hopefully even better husband and father one day! LDS missions are one of the greatest things the church offers to the rest of the world, and I know that without missionary work I wouldn’t be where I am today.
